I'm off to the Alpha Holy Spirit Day tomorrow and was thinking about what as a witness I believed about the Holy Spirit and my mind has gone blank - I can't ever remember talking that much about it or looking up any scriptures on it - what did you feel about the HS when you were a witness and what do you think of it now?

Wasa hits the nail on the head with the "passive, aggressive, jealousy thing". The ones we have told we are not attending meetings now have said to us that they are disappointed we are not going to continue "to suffer with them". I feel very sad for most of them because they really are struggling whether they admit it or not. The fun and love has definitely gone. One friend was interested in where we would be in 5 years' time as "the world was now our oyster", she came round the other day and she looked so sad I could've cried. They have not a clue as to what a wonderful full life they could have if they just had some balls..... Very, very sad.

Questions For Non-JWs
by sweet pea init just struck me that a lot of what we post comes under "you couldn't make it up"!
so my questions to those of you that aren't jw's or partnered with one - why do you continue to come here, does it entertain/surprise/inform you?
if you knew no jehovah's witnesses would you still be interested?

WT Organisation is "The Christ"
by Gordy injust came across this at http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?aid=2007706090311.
posted by a jw calling themselves "kudra" .
no, "the christ" is not jesus, as we jehovah's witnesses believe (in the context of our convention title) so we would not just say "jesus".

If you knew no Jehovah's witnesses would you still be interested? I just wondered what a non-JW would make of this site if they were visiting for the first time - would they look once and then not bother to return or would they be hooked like the rest of us for the sheer "soap opera-ness" of it all?

Are ex-JW still gullible or serpent-like?
by BEROEAN injust wondering if ex-jws find it hard to trust others since their bad experience or are they still gullble souls?
just wondering because some of the stories i read about past experiences are off the charts!
some of you, your childhoods, your parents are seriously jacked up!

"Personally, I wish I could take a baseball bat to your parents and whack some sense into them. It's their idiocy and their offenders that gives JDubs a bad name". I am surprised at this comment Beroean, don't you realise that the WTS is totally responsible for creating this situation. Yes, some parents are like you including my own (thankfully), in being liberal and balanced but that is not the norm and is frowned upon in the Organisation. These parents you are referring to sincerely believe they are following orders and pleasing Jehovah by doing so (reminds me of the Nazi's...) and you condemn them while supporting the Organisation still - I don't get it, you come across as thinking you're intelligent but you haven't worked this one out? Shame on you.

JWs and Love towards their families
by R.F. inthis is something that just popped in my mind suddenly.. but i was thinking about over the years the many comments of jws about loved ones.
for instance, one sister was speaking of her disgust with her children not accepting the "truth".
she gladly tells anyone of what she told them; that if they don't accept it before armageddon that it's too bad.

RF you are spot on, sadly. You'd think if they really loved their family members and thought they were going to die at Armageddon and they wouldn't see them again that they'd want to spend every moment they could with them to make use of the time they did have left with them! If a family member was dying of cancer you'd definately be spending as much time as you could with them. Having two sons of my own now I CANNOT understand how a parent could turn their backs on their own flesh and blood. It is sickening to the stomach and once again proves we are better off out of it and creating a new life for ourselves with unconditional friends who become our new family. ((((((R.F.)))))

Smellsgood, thank you for this post - it obviously took you some time to put it together and I for one appreciate it and do not attribute any label whatsoever to you. Good for you for a decent post. Just helps confirm to all of us, new and old, how far removed from Christianity the WTB$TS is! It's hard coming to terms with how we were fooled for so long. ;-)
